Welcome to Virginstow Parish
Welcome to the Parish Website for Virginstow. Here you will find further information on the History of the Parish with links to some archive material.
A small rural village of about 100 residents, pleasantly situated in the valley of the Carey rivulet, 6½ miles N. by E. of Launceston. Close by are the towns of Holsworthy and Okehampton. A short distance down a steep hill is a Ford which has a foot bridge over the river which was needed should it be in full flow during wet periods. Also close by the Ford you can still clearly see the old trackbed route and road bridge of the North Cornwall Railway that linked Halwill Junction to Launceston via Ashwater and Tower Hill Stations (see right hand side for archive link)
